STUDY BASICS
Are you between ages 18 and 50 without a cognitive disability (such as a learning or attentional disorder)? You may be eligible to participate in a research study using virtual reality to understand how sensory stimuli is processed in the brain. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The goal of this research study is to understand how the sensory stimuli that we encounter in the world is processed and integrated in our brain's systems. Understanding this may help us better understand when this information becomes inaccessible such as in people with Mild Cognitive Impairments or in Alzheimer's Disease.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Eligible participants are:
- Between ages 18 and 50
- Fluent in English
- Have normal or corrected-to-normal vision. To participate in the virtual reality session, glasses cannot be worn. Contact lenses can be worn.
- Currently without a cognitive disability (such as a learning and attention disorder)
- Currently able to stand (without problems) for approximately 1 hour without interruption
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
You will be asked to participate in a virtual reality experience, in which you will be presented with visual and/or auditory stimuli, and might be asked to navigate through a virtual environment and interact with objects. You may also be asked to complete some surveys, do basic tasks at a computer, and talk with the experimenter. Your responses (including actions during VR), and response times will be recorded during the experiment, and verbal responses may be audio recorded.
