STUDY BASICS
Do you have a brain injury? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a 1-visit research study to help learn more about planning abilities in people with brain injuries. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
A brain injury can be caused by a bump or blow to the head, a wound that breaks through the skull, a blast, or any other type of injury that jars or shakes the brain. In some cases, people with brain injuries have difficulty planning and making decisions in their daily lives. The purpose of this study is to find out if a new instrument called Planning in Life and Adapting to Novel Situations (PLANS) is a useful and reliable tool for measuring planning abilities in people with brain injuries. Researchers hope their findings will lead to better rehabilitation interventions for people with brain injuries in the future.COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- Ages 18-59
- Have had a brain injury
- 6 months post-injury
- Native English speaker
- Have a family member, spouse, or doctor/health professional who is willing to complete a 5-minute online survey about your functioning in daily life
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
During one 3-4 hour visit, you will use the PLANS Instrument to plan how to complete a task you encounter in daily life, and complete questionnaires, tests, and tasks. You will also identify a person who knows you well and is willing to complete the online survey about your daily functioning.IRB: PRO18060409
