STUDY BASICS

Do you require assistance with getting into and out of bed? If so, you may be able to take part in a research study to help evaluate the AgileLife Patient Transport Movement System, a “zero-lift” solution for patients who have difficulty getting into and out of bed by themselves. Compensation provided.

STUDY PURPOSE
Some people with physical impairments have trouble getting into and out of bed on their own and rely on caregivers to help. Manual lifting and moving can lead to injury to both a patient and their caregiver, and mechanical transfer systems can be difficult to install and use. The purpose of this study is to help researchers better understand the impact of a new transfer system called the AgileLife Patient Transport System (PTS). The AgileLife PTS consists of a fully powered hospital bed with an integrated transfer system, a docking station, and a manual wheelchair that allows for gentle, easy transfers with little manual intervention. Researchers hope their findings will help the developers of the AgileLife PTS system to better understand the opinions and needs of people using the device.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Ages 18-80
  • Have difficulty getting in and out of bed
  • Can tolerate sitting upright in a wheelchair for at least 1 hour
  • Have not had any fractures or pressure ulcers within the last 6 months
  • Weigh 350 pounds or less

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
Participation involves using the AgileLife PTS bed and wheelchair in your home and completing several surveys.
