STUDY BASICS

Are you HIV-positive and 18-65 years old? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a research study to help learn more about the role of the immune system in infections and gastrointestinal disorders. Compensation provided.

STUDY PURPOSE
The immune system is the body’s natural defense system that helps fight infections. The immune system plays a significant role in the development and progression of sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV and in gastrointestinal disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, but the relationship between the immune system and these conditions is not fully understood. The purpose of the study is to learn more about how the immune system works in the gastrointestinal system and to better understand how it controls infection with different types of viruses. Researchers hope their findings will lead to better ways to identify, prevent, and treat sexually transmitted diseases and gastrointestinal diseases in the future.
