Prosthetic Technology Focus Group

STUDY BASICS

Do you have an arm amputation above or below the elbow? If so, you may be interested in participating in a focus group to discuss your experiences with prosthetics (artificial limbs) and to learn about some new prosthetic technology currently being developed. The focus group will last no longer than 3 hours. Compensation provided.

STUDY PURPOSE

When a person suffers the loss of a body part (amputation), an artificial body part called a prosthesis is often used to help the person to return to their normal functioning. However, many people with amputations experience difficulty with their prosthetic device and are unable to use them to perform daily activities. The purpose of this study is to gather feedback related to developing new kinds of prosthetic technology.

• Age 18 and up
• Have an arm amputation above or below the elbow

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

This study involves participating in a focus group (1 visit, no more than 3 hours). Participants will discuss prosthetic technologies and complete a questionnaire.
