REALS Study – Caregivers

STUDY BASICS

Are you the legal guardian of an autistic adult or adult with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) such as Angelman, Down, Fragile X, Prader-Willi, or Williams syndrome? You may be able to participate in a research study to develop a new survey tool to measure aspects of adult life in autistic adults and adults with other IDD. Participants will complete online surveys.

STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this research study is to develop a new survey tool, known as the Relationships Employment Autonomy and Life Satisfaction (REALS) scale. The REALS was designed to measure aspects of adult life in autistic adults and adults with other intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The REALS was developed in partnership with autistic adults in an effort to better inform policies and programs that support these individuals. 

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?

• Legal guardian of an individual with a developmental disability such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Angelman syndrome, Down syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, and Williams Syndrome
• Able to read English at a 5th grade level

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Participants will be asked to complete online surveys.
