STUDY BASICS

Did you give birth in the past 2-4 months? Are you age 18 or older? You may be able to participate in a research study to help learn more about sleep and physical activity changes in women who have recently given birth. Participation takes place online and by phone. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

Many women experience changes related to their sleep and physical activity after giving birth, but researchers do not fully understand how these changes affect overall health. The purpose of this study is to learn more about sleep and physical activity in women who have recently given birth. Researchers hope their findings may lead to better maternal health in the future.  


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Age 18 and up
  • Gave birth in the past 2-4 months
  • Not currently pregnant

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Participation in this study lasts about nine months and involves wearing an activity monitor, filling out sleep logs, and completing surveys.

MEET THE RESEARCHER


Marquis Hawkins

Marquis Hawkins, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Hawkins’ research interests include the interrelationship of physical activity and sleep during and after pregnancy and the independent and joint relationship these health behaviors have with maternal health outcomes.
