STUDY BASICS
Did you have a traumatic brain injury in the past year? Do you live in your own home or in a residential community? You may be able to participate in a research study to help learn more about community and social participation following a traumatic brain injury. Participation involves completing questionnaires over the phone or in person at a location of your choosing. Compensation provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
A traumatic brain injury (TBI) can range from a mild concussion to a severe head injury. A TBI can be caused by a blow to the head, a fall, a wound that breaks through the skull, a blast or combat-related injury, or another injury that jars or shakes the brain. Symptoms of a TBI can include problems with mood, memory, movement, learning, or speaking. For some people, TBI-related symptoms can affect the ability to participate in community and social activities like shopping, working or volunteering, and getting together with friends or neighbors. The purpose of this study is to help researchers learn more about community and social participation in people who have had a TBI. Researchers hope their findings will lead to better interventions for people struggling with TBI-related symptoms in the future.COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
