MEET Mobile: Pilot Testing a New Daily Surveys Protocol with Autistic Preschoolers

STUDY BASICS

Are you the parent of a child with autism aged 3 to 5 years old? You and your child may be eligible for a research study to understand when and how big emotional reactions happen in daily life, and how parents and children interact during these moments. Compensation is provided.

STUDY PURPOSE

The goal of this study is to better understand when and how emotional challenges (such as meltdowns or outbursts) happen in the daily lives of autistic children and their parents. We are testing how daily surveys can help us better measure these experiences in daily life. Our long-term goal is to develop better supports for young autistic children and their families.

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD?

• Ages 3-5 years
• Diagnosed with autism

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

1. Zoom Orientation: You will have a Zoom call to learn about the daily surveys you will be completing during the study. You will complete a brief survey;
2. Daily Life Assessment (14 days following your Zoom orientation): You will receive short survey prompts texted to your smartphone;
3. Post-Study Survey and Interview: After the 14 days, you will complete a brief online survey and a Zoom interview about your experience during the daily life assessment.
