STUDY BASICS

Do you have experience teaching children 6 - 10 years old in an urban public school? Are you currenly teaching? You could be eligible to participate in a research study to learn what critical pedagogues’ praxis in primary school looks like by partnering with public teachers, like yourself, in Brazil (Sao Paulo city) and the United States.


STUDY PURPOSE

This study aims to learn what critical pedagogues’ praxis in primary school looks like by partnering with public teachers in Brazil (Sao Paulo city) and the United States. 

The goal is to create a learning community (via Zoom meetings) where critical praxis can be shared, constructed, and celebrated.

 

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • more than 3 years of experience teaching children between 6 and 10 years old in an urban (e.g., not rural) public school
  • currently teaching
  • speaks Portuguese or English
  • can commit your time to this study during approximately 3 months (weekly meetings) 

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
  • 3 individual interviews, 90 minutes each, recorded via Zoom
  • 3 conversation circles between teachers from the same city, 180 minutes each, recorded via Zoom
  • 2 conversation circles between all participants (from the 2 countries), IF all participants agree with the activity. Translators of English-Portuguese and Portuguese-English will be provided. These activities, 180 minutes each, will be also recorded via Zoom
