STUDY BASICS

Are you a patient receiving immunotherapy for melanoma or lung cancer? If yes, you may be eligible to participate in a diet research study to understand how certain probiotic (fermented food) and prebiotic supplements (high-fiber) impact the gut microbiome, cancer treatment response, and treatment side effects. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

This diet research study is to understand how certain probiotic and prebiotic impact the gut microbiome, cancer treatment response, and treatment side effects in cancer patients. 


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Are a patient receiving immunotherapy for melanoma or lung cancer
  • Are 18 years of age or older

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
  • Different dietary questionnaires will be administered periodically throughout the study period.
  • As a participant, you will be tracking your food intake approximately every seven days (using your smartphone or computer).
  • As part of the study, stool and blood samples will be collected.  This will be done during your cancer treatment visit; no additional visits will be required.
  • Cost of the fermented food will be compensated, and fiber supplement will be provided by the study, it will be at no cost for participants.
