STUDY BASICS

Do you have obstructive sleep apnea, but you aren't currently being treated for it? You may be eligible for a research study to determine the utility and feasibility of monitoring sleep apnea severity and daytime function over 15 nights and days. This study would ask you to wear a sleep device that you would wear on your finger every night for two weeks. Compensation is provided.

STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this study is to learn about the changes in your sleep from night-to-night over 15 nights and days and how those changes relate to how you feel during the day.

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Age 18 or older
  • Diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
  • Not receiving treatment for sleep apnea

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

The study would ask you to wear a sleep device that you would wear on your finger every night for two weeks. They would ask you to answer several questions throughout the day on an application you would download to your phone about how sleepy or tired you are and what your mood is like. If you agree, we will go over the consent form with you in person at the School of Nursing in a visit that would take about 60-120 minutes. At that time, they would obtain your weight, check your height and blood pressure and ask you to complete 10 questionnaires about your sleep and daytime symptoms.  After the study is over, the study will call you to learn what are your experiences and thoughts were about wearing the sleep device.
