The Lactation and Infant Feeding with Cancer Study - Healthcare Provider Arm
STUDY BASICS
Have you worked as direct clinical care for birthing and postpartum people with or without cancer (and/or their infants)? You may be eligible for a research study exploring decision-making around infant feeding among pregnant and postpartum people with a cancer diagnosis and their healthcare providers. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of the Lactation and Infant Feeding with Cancer study is to learn about breastfeeding/infant feeding decisions and provider advice related to infant feeding in the context of a prior or current maternal cancer diagnosis. The study will involve a one-time interview with a member of the study staff about your experiences in interacting with and counseling patients on infant feeding/breastfeeding who have had a cancer diagnosis. This interview will last approximately 30-45 minutes and be conducted at your convenience.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Eligible participants are:
- English-speaking
- Current or recent past (<6 months) direct clinical care of birthing/postpartum people with or without cancer and/or their infants OR cancer patients who may become pregnant in the future
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
Participation involves the completion of 1 online survey, and 1 remote audio interview (via phone or Zoom).

Jill Radtke Demirci, PhD, RN, IBCLC, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Demirci’s research interests include breastfeeding issues in premature and vulnerable populations as well as low breast milk supply management and diagnosis.
