STUDY BASICS

Are you the parent, caregiver, or guardian of an adolescent 12-19 years old? Does you adolescent identify as a sexual and/or gender minority? You may be eligible for a research study to learn more about the experiences parents and caregivers of sexual and gender diverse youth (SGDY). Participation involves a one-on-one interview over Zoom. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

A team of researchers at the University of Pittsburgh is doing a study to learn more about the experiences parents and caregivers of sexual and gender diverse youth (SGDY). The goal of this study is to develop caregiver-focused resources for preventing adolescent relationship violence for SGDY.


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • A primary parent, caregiver, or guardian of a sexual and gender diverse youth (SGDY) between the ages of 12-19.
    • SGDY, such as LGBTQIA+, may include any sexual identity other than straight (including homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, demisexual, queer etc.) and/or any gender identity other than cisgender (including non-binary, transgender, gender fluid, etc.)
  • 18 years or older.
  • Speak and understand English

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

One 45 to 60 minute interview over zoom.

Maya Ragavan

Maya Ragavan, MD, is a general pediatrician and researcher at the University of Pittsburgh/Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She is interested in learning more about ways to improve well-child care for children and families. Her research also focuses on supporting families who have experienced stress or trauma.
