STUDY BASICS

Are you an adult who has not lived in or near East Palestine, Ohio? You may be eligible to participate as a comparison volunteer for a research study to understand how the train derailment has impacted residents of East Palestine. Specifically, we want to determine the impact of the chemicals on the health of residents. Participation will be limited to urine collection only. Compensation provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

Vinyl chloride and other chemicals leaked into the air, soil, surface water, and groundwater, potentially impacting indoor air and drinking water after the freight train derailment in East Palestine, OH. The purpose of this research study is to work with the East Palestine community to collect environmental and biological samples as well as psychosocial stress data to analyze the long-term impacts of exposures to vinyl chloride and other chemicals spilled during the derailment disaster.
