STUDY BASICS

Do you have a motor impairment or have blindness/low vision? You may be eligible for a research study to see if teaching people with disabilities how to use a smart speaker can help them to use the technology. Participants try an online training program about using an Amazon Alexa device and complete an interview on the usefulness and limitations of the material.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this study is to explore if an online training program about using Alexa smart speakers can help people with disabilities in use a smart speaker effectively to support their independence and participation.


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Have a motor impairment or/and blindness or low vision.
  • Have a smartphone or computer
  • Have the ability to read and converse in English
  • Ability to read at 5th grade level or higher
  • Have internet access and Wifi-network

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
  • Try an online training program about using an Amazon Alexa device and complete an interview on the usefulness and limitations of the material. This should take up to 2 weeks, 2 or 3 hours in total.
  • Complete a usability questionnaire. This should take up to 45 minutes.
