STUDY BASICS
Are you African American, Black, or White non-Hispanic and have had a stroke? Did you receive care at UPMC Rehabilitation Institute inpatient rehabilitation facility? You may be eligible for a research study examining the health care experiences and perspectives of African American, Black, and White non-Hispanic individuals who have had a stroke and received inpatient rehabilitation.
STUDY PURPOSE
People who are African American and Black are more likely to have a stroke and experience more severe disability than other populations. Our study examines the health care experiences and perspectives of African American, Black, and White non-Hispanic individuals who have had a stroke and received inpatient rehabilitation. Understanding these lived experiences may inform efforts to best meet the needs of people who have experienced a stroke.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
As an eligible participant you will be asked to complete online questionnaires and a one time, 60-minute interview (by telephone or teleconference) to discuss your experiences with health care before, during, and after your stroke. A few weeks after the interview, the research team will contact you again to confirm that we accurately documented your responses.
