STUDY BASICS
Have you recently given birth? You may be eligible for a research study to learn more about the experiences of people who use marijuana or tobacco, and experienced partner violence during pregnancy. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
A team of researchers at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh are doing a study to learn more about the experiences of people who use marijuana or tobacco and experience partner violence during pregnancy. The lead researcher for this study is Dr. Maya Ragavan.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Eligible participants:
- Are 18 or older
- Have recently given birth
- Have experienced relationship violence or abuse
- Used marijuana or tobacco products during pregnancy
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
If you meet the criteria above and agree to be in our study, you will be invited to participate in a one-on-one interview over Zoom. If you cannot complete the interview through Zoom we can also schedule the interview in-person at the Children's Hospital office in Oakland. The interviews will take 45-60 minutes to complete and will focus on your partner's role in marijuana or tobacco during your pregnancy, and any experiences you had with doctors, law enforcement, or child protective services about your marijuana or tobacco use.

Maya Ragavan
Maya Ragavan, MD, is a general pediatrician and researcher at the University of Pittsburgh/Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She is interested in learning more about ways to improve well-child care for children and families. Her research also focuses on supporting families who have experienced stress or trauma.
