Night to Night Variability in Sleep Disordered Breathing
STUDY BASICS
Have you been diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), but are currently not being treated, or are waiting to start treatment? You may be eligible for a research study to improve our understanding of how sleep and breathing patterns vary from night to night among individuals with obstructive sleep apnea. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
This study seeks to better understand how sleep and breathing patterns change from night to night in people with obstructive sleep apnea. We are also examining how these nightly differences affect mood, energy, and daily functioning. Ultimately, our goal is to improve how we measure sleep apnea severity to better guide treatment and care.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- Diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), but are currently not being treated, or are waiting to start treatment
- Over the age of 18
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
For this study, you will be asked to wear a sleep device that will measure your sleep over 7 nights and answer some periodic questions about your mood and sleep quality the following day. The first night typically takes the longest, but it gets easier to apply on the following nights. Once the device is applied, you will be able to sleep, roll over in bed, and use the restroom as you usually would.
At the first study visit, the study will measure your height and weight, check your blood pressure, draw up to 2 tubes of blood, and ask you to complete 12 questionnaires about your sleep, daytime mood, and function. The second visit is to return the equipment at the end of the study.
