Stroke Rehabilitation Research Study
STUDY BASICS
Did you have a stroke more than 6 months ago? You may be eligible for a research study examining ways to help stroke survivors resume social participation in the community. Participants will be invited to participate in one of the two intervention programs designed to promote social participation in the community for a total of 10 sessions. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of this research study is to test a new rehabilitation program designed to help people resume social participation after stroke and live in the community.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- You are at least 18 years old
- You experienced a stroke at least 6 months ago
- You live in a community residence
- You are not currently receiving active physical, occupational, speech or psychological therapy
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
You will be asked to complete assessments, participate in 10 individual sessions with a therapist, and repeat some assessments after therapy sessions and one month after.

Minmei Shih
Minmei Shih, PhD, is an occupational therapist with experience in cognitive rehabilitation, and research scientist in Dr. Skidmore's research laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Shih’s research interests include developing interventions designed to promote independence and community integration among adults with cognitive impairments.
