STUDY BASICS
Have you had a stroke? You may be eligible for a research study using non-invasive electroencephalogram (EEG) brain-computer interface (BCI) to control a robotic arm and/or computer cursor in real time. This study consists of up to 5-10 sessions, lasting about 2 hours each. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of the study is to investigate new methods for improving a person’s ability to perform cognitive tasks to control a brain-computer interface. This study hopes to develop new methods of braincomputer interfacing which may be useful to help motor-impaired patients in the future.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- 18-86 years of age
- Have a history of stroke
**Please note that we are currently only able to accept volunteers at least three (3) months after having a stroke. If you are interested in participating but have suffered a stroke more recently than three months ago, we would be happy to have you participate once the required time has passed.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
This study is using a non-invasive electroencephalogram brain-computer interface (EEG BCI) to control a robotic arm and/or computer cursor in real time. This study consists of up to 5-10 sessions depending on volunteer availability. Sessions are on different days and last about 2 hours each. All sessions involve sitting in front of a computer and performing simple tasks such as thinking about moving.
