Sickle Cell Disease and the Brain - Diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease

STUDY BASICS

Do you have sickle cell disease (SCD)? Researchers are looking for individuals with SCD for a research study analyzing how SCD affects cognition and pain. Participation involves up to 4 visits lasting about 3 hours each with MRI and EEG recording. Compensation is provided.

STUDY PURPOSE

This is a research study to analyze how sickle cell disease (SCD) affects cognition and pain to improve understanding and inform future treatment development.

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?

• 18 years or older
• Diagnosis of sickle cell disease
• No metallic implants, claustrophobia, epilepsy, pregnancy or weight more than 300 lbs.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

This study includes up to 4 visits lasting about 3 hours each with MRI and EEG recordings.  Participation is voluntary.
