STUDY BASICS

Do you receive SSI? Have you ever thought about working? You may be eligible for a research study to better understand SSI recipient experiences navigating the Social Security Administration’s rules and policies governing employment and income. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this research study is to better understand SSI recipient experiences navigating the Social Security Administration’s rules and policies governing employment and income.


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Adults ages 18-61 who receive SSI
  • Have received SSI for at least 6 months
  • Have considered, thought about, or attempted to work while receiving SSI (regardless of any work experience) 

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Participants will be asked about their experiences, how they have navigated decisions about work, and SSA’s policies regarding employment, income and savings limits. Participation involves an initial audio-recorded interview. Once the research team has analyzed all interviews in a preliminary way, they will schedule group meetings in order to hear participant’s feedback on their findings.  At these group meetings only themes and short, de-identified quotes will be shared.
