STUDY BASICS

This research study is being done to develop smartphone blood pressure measurement device. Research activities will include noninvasive blood pressure measurements via special devices and standard cuff devices. These measurements will take about an hour to complete. Compensation is provided.

STUDY PURPOSE

The long-term purpose of this study is to establish a smartphone-based device to obtain blood pressure measurements. If you have high blood pressure, you are at greater risk for a stroke or heart attack. So, getting your blood pressure checked regularly is an important part of staying healthy. Unfortunately, cuff blood pressure measurement devices are not readily accessible. As a result, many people do not know they have high blood pressure. The goal of this study is to evaluate emerging blood pressure sensing technologies.

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?

  • Age 18 to 69 years old
  • Generally in good health (with or without high blood pressure)

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

This research study will investigate non-invasive methods of collecting blood pressure measurements via a finger, wrist, and/or arm cuff.   These measurements will take about an 1 hour to complete.
