STUDY PURPOSE
This study is being conducted to learn if a peer support mentor can help to improve CPAP adherence in women during their first 90-days of treatment.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Eligible participants:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Identify as women
- Have successfully adhered to CPAP treatment for at least one year
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
The peer support mentors will be partnered with a woman who is beginning or restarting CPAP treatment. As a peer mentor, you would undergo a 3.5-hour one day in person training. We would match you with one or two mentees over the course of 18 months. You will be responsible for meeting with your assigned mentee 8 times. The first time in person one to two weeks before the mentees CPAP treatment initiation, and then remotely (via video or telephone calls as preferred) over a three-month period. The peer mentor will provide educational and emotional support to her mentee during the visits. After you have completed 3 months with one mentee, we will conduct interviews with you to determine your satisfaction with the study, the peer mentoring process, and if you have any suggestions to improve the program.
