STUDY BASICS

Have you been diagnosed with advanced cancer and currently take prescription pain medication to treat your pain? You may be eligible to participate in a research study to develop interventions to promote safe, effective, and informed opioid pain management practices for millions of patients with cancer pain. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this research study is to explore opioid stigma experiences and treatment priorities from a diverse group of patients with advanced, painful cancer. In the long term, we hope to develop interventions to help with safe, effective prescription opioid use.


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Are at least 18 years old
  • Speak English
  • Have a current, advanced cancer (stages 3 and 4) diagnosis
  • Have a current opioid prescription to treat pain related to your cancer

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

4 activities that ask about what kinds of supports and problems people should know about while using opioids to treat cancer pain

  • Brainstorming and Questionnaires
  • Sorting
  • Rating
  • Small Group Interpretation
