STUDY BASICS
Is your spouse or partner a woman that has type 2 diabetes? Are you and your partner willing to participate in a research study? You may be eligible to participate in a research study that may improve the health and happiness of both partners. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of the study is to determine how support from spouses or partners can impact the health of people with type 2 diabetes. We are testing a program that we think can improve the health and happiness of both partners. We will measure how you and your partner interact regarding your partner’s diabetes; health behaviors related to diabetes, such as exercise and diet; psychological well-being; and your partner’s diabetes health.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- 18 years of age or older
- you do not have diabetes
- partner is a woman that has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least one year
- living with a partner for at least one year
- have access to the internet and a cell phone at home

Vicki Helgeson
Vicki Helgeson received her PhD in experimental social psychology in 1987. She has been on the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University since 1990. Dr. Helgeson has studied how people adjust to chronic illness for over 30 years, with special focus on the roles of relationships and personality characteristics in maintaining good health.
