STUDY BASICS

Are you currently pregnant or had a baby in the last 6 months? You may be able to participate in our Community Engagement Studio (CES) research study to help researchers understand your thoughts on a novel screening tool and how to use it. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

We are creating a screening tool to help providers identify pregnant people who are at-risk for developing depression during their pregnancy. We are inviting 10-15 Community Experts to participate in our Community Engagement Studio (CES) to help researchers understand your thoughts on the screening tool and how to use it. 


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?

Eligible participants are:

  • 18 years or older 
  • Identify as Black/African American
  • Currently pregnant or had a baby in the last 6 months
  • Willing to participate in an audio-recorded group discussion

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

The CES is a group discussion where you will provide expert advice to researchers on how to perform the next steps of this study in a way that honors the priorities, values, and needs of your community. You will attend one CES that will last about 2 hours and complete a short survey. You will receive $100 as a thank you for your time and input.

Tamar Krishnamurti

Tamar Krishnamurti, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Dr. Krishnamurti’s research interests include the design of effective communications, decision aids, and interventions for both domestic and international populations as well as medical decision making, mHealth, and risk perception and communication.
