STUDY BASICS

Do you have chronic low back pain? You may be eligible to participate in this research study to determine the effectiveness of a personalized patient education program for people with chronic low back pain. Participants will be asked to follow their assigned education materials as they are distributed on 5 separate occasions. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

The pupose of this study is to explore the use of personalized patient education for the management of chronic low back pain. Specifically, this study is hoping to see whether personalized patient education might be useful in helping people with chronic low back pain manage their condition.


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • aged 18 or older
  • have had back pain for a consistent period of the last 3 months or longer
  • have access to high-speed internet and/or LTE wireless service via a device such as a tablet, computer, or smartphone

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Participation would include engaging with a total of five different educational materials that we would send to you electronically, across a three-week period. You would also complete questionnaires at the beginning and the end of the three-week period.

MEET THE RESEARCHER


Allyn Bove

Ally Bove, PT, DPT, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. She completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Columbia University and PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research interests include health equity and cost-effectiveness research related to musculoskeletal disorders, especially arthritis, joint replacement surgery, and low back pain.
