STUDY BASICS
Do you have eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis (AD)? You may be eligible for a research study to test how well an oral study medicine works and how safe it is for people with AD. Participants will be assigned by chance to get either the oral study medicine or the placebo. The study lasts about 20 weeks and participation involves at least 9 visits. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
This study will evaluate how well the oral study medicine works and how safe it is in people with atopic dermatitis (AD). The study medicine is being developed to block certain signals that are known to play a role in conditions like AD.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- Age 18 - 65
- Diagnosed with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (AD), at least 6 months ago
- Do not have a suitable prescribed medicine for atopic dermatitis (AD)
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
- This study compares the oral study medicine a placebo. A placebo looks like the study drug but has no active medicine.
- You will be assigned by chance (like pulling a number out of a hat) to get either the oral study medicine or the placebo.
- The study lasts about 20 weeks and you will have at least 9 visits:
- Screening: 1 visit during a period that can last up to 4 weeks.
- Treatment: 7 visits, every 1–4 weeks, over about 12 weeks.
- Follow-up: 1 visit, 4 weeks after the treatment period.

MEET THE RESEARCHER
Joe K. Tung
Joe K. Tung, MD, MBA received his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University and his medical degree at Harvard Medical School. He concurrently obtained his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, graduating in the top 5% as a Baker Scholar. Dr. Tung went on to complete his internal medicine intern year at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and his dermatology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Tung won a gold medal representing the United States at the 43rd International Chemistry Olympiad. His basic science and clinical research work have resulted in multiple peer-reviewed articles, reviews, textbook chapters, clinical decision support tools, and presentations at national and international meetings. He serves as a reviewer for research journals, as a consultant for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as a principal investigator for global industry-sponsored clinical trials, and as an advisor for multiple healthcare start-ups. In his spare time, Dr. Tung enjoys traveling, playing golf, rock climbing, visiting museums, and attending live sporting events.
