Racial Disparities in Involuntary Commitments of Young Adults – Parent Arm
STUDY BASICS
Are you the parent of someone who has been involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital as a minor in Allegheny County, PA? You may be eligible for a research study to better understand what happens to young people when they experience involuntary psychiatric commitment. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
We are researchers at the University of Pittsburgh studying the disparities and precipitants of involuntary psychiatric commitment. We hope to use this information to advocate for better care and inform providers about the impact of involuntary hospitalization.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Eligible participants:
- Are ages 18 and older
- Are the parent or guardian of someone who experienced an involuntary psychiatric commitment as a young adult
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
Eligible participants will participate in one audio-recorded interview and complete two short questionnaires. The interview and surveys will take approximately 60 minutes.
