Left Ventricular Remodeling after Preeclampsia- Healthy Volunteers
STUDY BASICS
Are you a healthy woman 18 years of age or older? Have you never been pregnant? You may be eligible for a research study to learn more about how pregnancy and high blood pressure impacts heart health. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of the research is to learn more about how pregnancy and high blood pressure impacts heart health.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- healthy woman over the age of 18
- never been pregnant
- willing and able to undergo MRI scanning
- BMI lower than 30 kg/m2
- Normal blood pressure (<130/80 mmHg)
- Not on any daily/chronic oral medications other than vitamins, supplements, or birth control
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
- Filling out survey questionnaires
- Physical measures such as blood pressure, height, and weight
- A blood draw and urine collection
- Placement of IV
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Stress cardiac MRI

Malamo Countouris
Dr. Malamo Countouris, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and a cardiologist specializing in women's heart disease and cardio-obstetrics at the University of Pittsburgh. She co-directs the UPMC Postpartum Hypertension Clinic. Her research focuses on treatment of women with a history of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and studying the association of adverse pregnancy outcomes with future cardiovascular disease.
