STUDY BASICS

The purpose of the SHyN Study is to try to understand the effect of poor sleep and frequent nighttime urination on controlling blood pressure. Eligible participants are ages 65 or older, have trouble sleeping, wake up 2 or more times per night to urinate, and are being treated for high blood pressure. This study involves 2-4 visits over 6 weeks. Compensation is provided.

Shachi Tyagi

Shachi Tyagi, MD, MS, is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. A graduate of Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Tyagi’s research interests include geriatric nocturia and insomnia, their treatment, and their impact on each other as well as on the risk of falls.
