STUDY BASICS

Healthy men ages 18-25 needed for a research study to find out if fish oil reduces inflammation in the brain. Participants must be planning to stay in Pittsburgh for the next year and be willing to provide blood samples. Eligible participants will undergo psychological and cognitive tests and will have 1 MRI, 1 CT, and 1 PET scan. Compensation provided.

STUDY PURPOSE
Recent studies suggest that psychological stress can lead to inflammation in the brain, which may contribute to the development of depression and anxiety. The purpose of this study is to find out if the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil can reduce inflammation in the brain, and contribute to mental well-being.
