AWARE – Acoustic WAveform Respiratory Evaluation - Ages 18-70 with an airway disorder
STUDY BASICS
Do you have asthma, COPD, Cystic Fibrosis (CF), or another airway disorder? You may be eligible for a research study to help learn how to use smartphones to monitor lung function, and to identify changes in the airways that are associated with disease attacks. Most participants will only perform a one-time study visit. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well a new smartphone technology called “AWARE” (Acoustic WAveform Respiratory Examination) can measure the size of your airways and if it can help diagnose certain diseases of the lungs and if it can hellp detect attacks in those who are sick.

MEET THE RESEARCHER
Juan Celedon
Juan C. Celedon MD, DrPH is a pulmonologist and genetic epidemiologist and is the Chief, Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy and Immunology Niels K. Jerne Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Dr. Celedon’s research goals are to identify genetic factors and early-life environmental exposures that influence the development of asthma and other lung diseases.
