Adrenalectomy Followed by Tirzepatide for Managing Patients with Mild Autonomous Cortisol Secretion
STUDY BASICS
Having adrenal surgery? You may qualify for a research study. We are studying whether a weight loss medication (tirzepatide / Zepbound / Mounjaro) given after adrenal surgery improves blood pressure, weight, and blood sugar control.
STUDY PURPOSE
This study is to find out if adding a drug known as “Tirzepatide/Zepbound/Mounjaro” improves the treatment for people with Mild Autonomous Cortisol Secretion (MACS) who are having an adrenalectomy.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- Adrenal tumor with mild cortisol excess - Scheduled for adrenalectomy at UPMC
-
Elevated blood pressure - Current hypertension or taking blood pressure medication
-
BMI ≥ 27 - Overweight or obese by body mass index
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
• No change to your surgery.
• Randomized to 1 of 2 groups: surgery + tirzepatide injection, or surgery follow-up only
