Reading Research Study for Adults - Healthy Volunteer
STUDY BASICS
Are you 19-90 years of age? You may be eligible for a research study to compare the understanding, reading rate, and perceptions of people with and without aphasia when reading different types of paragraph-level texts. Typical involvement in this study includes three sessions: 1 assessment session and 2 experimental sessions.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of this project is to compare the understanding, reading rate, and perceptions of people with and without aphasia when reading different types of paragraph-level texts.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- Be between 19-90 years of age
- Speak American English as primary language
- Have hearing and vision adequate to complete the experimental task
- Do not have a history of neurological or developmental (reading or learning disability) impairment
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
- One assessment sessions (up to 40 minutes)
- Answer questions, name objects, read words and sentences, listen to directions
- One to two experimental sessions (up to 2 hours each).
- Read paragraphs and answer questions
- Use eye-tracking equipment (optional)
