Adolescent Opinions on Physicians Discussing Family Needs with Teens - Parent of an adolescent 13-17
STUDY BASICS
Are you the parent of an adolescent between the ages of 13-17? Has your adolescent attended a well-child appointment within the last year? Your teen may be eligible for a research study about family home needs.
STUDY PURPOSE
The goal of this project is to learn how to best provide families in need with resources through their family or pediatric clinician.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Adolescent between the ages of 13-17 that
- speaks and understands English
- has attended a well-child appointment within the last year
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
For this study, your teen will be invited to participate in a one-on-one interview that will be conducted virtually using Zoom. The interview will take 45-60 minutes to complete and will focus on your teens opinions about how home needs, such as access to food, transportation, and a safe environment, should be discussed in a doctor’s office. Interviews will be audio-recorded and transcribed.

Maya Ragavan
Maya Ragavan, MD, is a general pediatrician and researcher at the University of Pittsburgh/Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She is interested in learning more about ways to improve well-child care for children and families. Her research also focuses on supporting families who have experienced stress or trauma.
