FLARE: Family and LGBTQ+ Adolescent Relationship Education
STUDY BASICS
Calling all LGBTQ+ teens and their trusted adults! The University of Pittsburgh is conducting a research study to test a program that teaches LGBTQ+ teens and their trusted adults about dating and healthy relationships. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The study goal is to reduce adolescent relationship abuse (ARA) disparities for sexual and gender diverse youth (SGDY) by testing a new education intervention for high-school-aged LGBTQ+ teens and their caregivers.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD?
- Teens must be 14-17 years old and identify as LGBTQ+
- Trusted adults must be 18+ years old
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
- 1 in-person session
- 2 live online sessions
- Other fun activities
- Learn about healthy relationships
- Play games
- Build trust

Maya Ragavan
Maya Ragavan, MD, is a general pediatrician and researcher at the University of Pittsburgh/Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She is interested in learning more about ways to improve well-child care for children and families. Her research also focuses on supporting families who have experienced stress or trauma.
