Sickle Cell Disease and the Brain - Healthy Volunteer

STUDY BASICS

Are you a healthy adult (no medical conditions classified as neurological, cardiovascular, and/or lung diseases)? Researchers are looking for healthy volunteers for a research study to analyze how Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) affects cognition and pain. Participation involves up to 4 visits lasting about 3 hours each with MRI and EEG recording. Compensation is provided.

STUDY PURPOSE

This is a research study to analyze how sickle cell disease (SCD) affects cognition and pain to improve understanding and inform future treatment development.

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?

• 18 years or older
• Healthy participants: No medical conditions classified as neurological, cardiovascular, and/or lung diseases
• No metallic implants, claustrophobia, epilepsy, pregnancy or weight more than 300 lbs.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

This study includes up to 4 visits lasting about 3 hours each with MRI and EEG recordings.  Participation is voluntary.
