MotivaSpark: A Personalized Neurological Jumpstart
STUDY BASICS
Are you a young adult with depression? If so, you may be eligible for a research study at the University of Pittsburgh examining a potential smartphone application for depression. Participants are asked to complete a virtual interview lasting 15 – 30 minutes. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
This research is to evaluate MotivaSpark, a digital therapeutic designed to address anhedonia, a core and often treatment-resistant feature of depression in young adults. Anhedonia is characterized by reduced motivation and diminished ability to experience pleasure and is frequently associated with poor functional outcomes despite standard treatments. The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and clinical utility of MotivaSpark when used in real-world clinical settings.

- have depression or a history of depression

Manny Rengasamy
Manivel Rengasamy, MD, is faculty at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Rengasamy’s research interests include examining depression in adolescents and young adults, rapid-acting treatments in depression, as well as further characterizing inflammatory activation in pediatric depression.
