SleepChart - Parent of a Child ages 9-17 years old
STUDY BASICS
Are you the parent of a healthy child between the ages of 9 and 17? You may be eligible to participate in a research study to learn about how sleep changes over the course of late childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
Sleep is a modifiable factor that supports healthy development; the quality and amount of sleep a young people get is associated with a long-term emotional, cognitive, and physical health outcomes in adulthood. Our goal is to develop sleep growth charts that enable earlier detection of suboptimal sleep in young people and help us create personalized sleep interventions.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

If your child is eligible and interested in the full study, participation will involve at-home sleep monitoring with portable devices that track sleep patterns and physiology for one week, followed by a single overnight visit at the University of Pittsburgh sleep lab in Oakland. Then, online follow-up surveys will be completed every year for 2 years. Compensation is provided for participating in the study but not for the initial online pre-screening survey.
