REGISTRY
STUDY BASICS

Are you 18 years of age or older, and are seeking or already receiving treatment at the UPMC Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center? If so, you may be able to take part in the IBD Research Registry, which is a list of individuals who are interested in having their medical information included in research studies and being contacted about future research studies.

STUDY PURPOSE

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is an umbrella term for conditions that involve immune response and inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. The two most common diseases in this category are ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Symptoms of these conditions include diarrhea, rectal bleeding, pain, weight loss, and fatigue. Much advancement in medicine has resulted from Research Registries that involve the collection and analysis of medical record information of patients with a certain disease or condition. Participation in this Research Registry allows researchers to review and study medical records to help increase knowledge about IBD, and allows researchers to contact participants about future IBD research opportunities.
