STUDY BASICS

We’re conducting a research study looking into how high blood pressure during pregnancy affects the heart, specifically comparing Peripartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM) with other high blood pressure-related pregnancy issues. We want to see how these conditions impact the heart’s recovery after giving birth. Compensation is provided.

STUDY PURPOSE

This study is looking at what effect high blood pressure before and during pregnancy has on the heart muscle weakness among individuals with peripartum cardiomyopathy or “PPCM.”

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Diagnosis: You have a diagnosis of peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM).
  • Timing: You are within 4 months postpartum.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Previous Imaging: You have a past cardiac MRI (CMR).

  • Image Transmission: We will transmit and analyze your previous CMR images.
  • Optional Blood Draw: You may choose to participate in an in-person visit where approximately 5 teaspoons of blood will be collected.

Previous Imaging: You do not have a previous cardiac MRI (CMR).

  • In-Person Visit: You will attend a Research CMR visit.
  • Blood Collection: Approximately 5 teaspoons of blood will be drawn during this visit.

All Participants

  • Survey Completion: You will complete a brief survey.
  • Follow-up Data Collection: We will gather your 6 and 12-month follow-up data after your PPCM diagnosis from your electronic medical record.
