STUDY BASICS

Do you have Lupus? You may be eligible for a research study to find out whether adding an investigational drug to standard SLE medication can improve your condition over 48 weeks. Participants will receive either the investigational drug or placebo as an intravenous infusion. Compensation is provided.

STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of the PHOENYCS FLY Study is to find out whether adding an investigational drug to standard SLE medication can improve your condition over 48 weeks. The study will also assess the safety of the investigational drug,  ‘Investigational’ means a drug or treatment option has not been approved for a specific clinical use and is still being tested in studies such as this one.

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?

• Are 18 years of age or older.
• Were diagnosed with SLE at least 6 months ago.
• Are using at least 1 SLE medication (steroid, immune-suppressing drug or antimalarial drug).

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Participants will be assigned to one of two study groups:

  • Study group 1 – continue your current standard of care + receive the investigational drug.
  • Study group 2 – continue your current standard of care + receive placebo (which looks like the investigational drug but has no active ingredients).

Neither you nor the study team can choose which group you are assigned to, or know which group you have been assigned to. However, in an emergency, the study team can find out which study drug you are taking.
