Adapting SBAR3 for Patients with Sickle Cell Disease
STUDY BASICS
Are you an adult living with Sickle Cell Disease? You may be eligible for a research study to learn about how patients living with sickle cell disease communicate with their doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers. This study is also being conducted to create tools for people with sickle cell disease to use when talking to healthcare providers about their health. Compensation provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
This research study is being conducted to learn about how patients living with sickle cell disease communicate with their healthcare providers. This study is also being conducted to adapt a training program for patient-provider communication for sickle cell disease. The study hopes to assist patients living with sickle cell disease with getting their needs met when communicating with healthcare provider.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- Are 18 years of age or older.
- Have sickle cell disease.
- Have seen a healthcare provider or been hospitalized for your sickle cell disease during the past year.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
- Complete a brief questionnaire.
- Participate in a 1-hour video-recorded interview (via Zoom or in person) about communicating with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers about sickle cell disease.
- Provide feedback on a tool being developed to improve communication among sickle cell disease patients and their providers.
