Prolonged Grief Treatment Development Study - Parent
STUDY BASICS
Are you the parent of a child 8-12 years old that has lost a parent to suicide? Are you or your child experiencing intense and persistent grief? You may be eligible to participate in a research study to develop a treatment for prolonged grief for families affected by suicide. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
This study is being conducted to develop and test a treatment for Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) for families who have been affected by suicide.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD?
- Parent of a child age 8-12 years old
- Your child has lost a parent to suicide
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
- Brief interview to confirm eligibility for focus groups.
- 1-2 Focus groups with group facilitator and peers (1-2 hours each)
- Self-report questionnaires

Nadine Melhem
Nadine M. Melhem, PhD, MPH, is associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Trained in psychiatric genetic epidemiology, Dr. Melhem has a long history of working in research and a special interest in studying the impacts of stress and trauma on children and families.
