STUDY BASICS

Are you a healthy adult between 18 and 50 years old without any current or history of middle-ear disease? If so, you may be eligible for a study on normal middle-ear physiology. Participation involves 1 screening visit (3-4 hours), 5 testing visits (3-7 hours each) and a variable number of follow-up visits (about ½ -1 hour each). Also involves having a temporary tube inserted in one eardrum.

Cuneyt Alper

Cuneyt Alper, MD, is Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. As an otolaryngology physician, he specializes in treating conditions of the ear, nose, and throad (also referred to as ENT). A graduate of Hacettepe University in Ankara, Dr. Alper is renowned as an expert in treatment and research for ear conditions. In addition to being an acitve practitioner at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Dr. Alper runs a clinic specifically for adults and children with Eustachian tube dysfunction.
