STUDY BASICS
Are you an adult who drinks alcohol? Have you been impacted by eviction or been concerned with a potential eviction in your life or community? You may be eligible for a research study to help us learn about community strengths and resources. The research study involves 1 hour interview, taking photos of resources in your community and 1 hour follow-up interview. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The goal of this study is to understand strategies, resources, and strengths for preventing eviction and alcohol-related harms among individuals impacted by eviction/eviction risk in Allegheny County, PA. Understanding what is needed to prevent eviction and alcohol-related health impacts can help us improve health for individuals and communities impacted by these issues.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- 18 years of age or older
- live in Allegheny County
- speak English
- drink alcohol, live with someone who drinks alcohol, and/or have a romantic partner/significant other who drinks alcohol
- have experienced eviction or the threat of eviction in the past two years (including uncertainty about paying rent, receiving an eviction notice, or have close friends/family with these experiences)
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
Participants will
- take part in a one hour baseline interview to discuss strengths and resources in their communities and living environments
- take photos of those strengths and resources over a 1-2 week period
- take part in a one hour follow-up interview to share their photos and develop photo captions
Camera provided if needed, no photography experience required.
