STUDY BASICS

Are you currently experiencing neck pain? You may be eligible for a research study to determine how different types of manual therapies affect neck movements in adults with neck pain. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this study is to determine how different types of manual therapies affect neck movements in adults with neck pain.


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Are currently experiencing neck pain
  • Between 18-70 years of age.
  • Not pregnant.
  • BMI less than 35

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
  • A CT scan and high-speed x-ray imaging of your neck while you flex, extend and rotate your neck.
  • Having a mobilization or manipulation of your neck performed by a chiropractor or physical therapist.
  • Participation will take approximately 2 hours over the course of 1-2 days

William Anderst

William J. Anderst, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Anderst is the director of the Orthopaedic Biodynamics Laboratory where the central theme of research is identification and treatment of mechanical disorders that drive the progression of degenerative musculoskeletal disease.
